Tewin bridleway 40 at point 13 in the walk |
This is a lovely walk over rolling countryside to the north of Bramfield. At several points you will be treated to wide open views to the south and east. In the summer you will pass alongside fields of wild flowers. The walk follows quiet country lanes, permissive paths, and public rights of way.
The route cuts through several wooded areas where some of the paths can be muddy after rain. It's an ideal route for those who like peace and quiet. At times all you can hear is the sound of birdsong and the odd plane overhead.
The walk starts and finishes at
The Grandison pub/restaurant in Bramfield village. It is
one of five walks in this area.

Just finishing this walk at 21.30. Stunning. Loved the stretch from 13-14. Another winner!
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed it. It is a lovely walk. Thanks for the feedback. David
DeleteThank you for another lovely walk - this was perfect for the evening. We started at the pub and then walked, finishing around 9.30 pm while it was still light. The wild flower fields were delightful to walk though as the sun was low in the sky and the views at point 13-14 made this walk a real treat!
ReplyDeleteWalking that route in the evening sounds lovely, especially your description of the fields of flowers as the sun was setting. So glad you enjoyed it. If you haven't already done so please consider joining our friendly Hertfordshire Walker Facebook Group where fellow-walkers are sharing their experiences and photos.

Did this walk on Saturday and enjoyed it very much. Parked in Winding Shott. Very clear instructions and a good mix of wood, open views. We dont usually like any lane walking but these were very quiet so it was ok. Had a drink at the end at the Grandison in their pretty outside space.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the feedback Deborah, so glad you enjoyed the walk.
DeleteNice varied walk with a really good amount of shade on a hot day. Some sections were familiar from previous walks I'd done, not following a particular route. Unfortunately, I fell over near the start of the walk at point 2 due to a pothole on Gobions Lane just before the sharp bend. My ankle gave way and the next minute I was sprawled on the ground after a pretty heavy landing. Lucky there wasn't a vehicle coming round the bend as I'd have been mincemeat. Would just advise others to pay attention to the road surface on this section. Unike me who was stupidly checking directions on my phone and not paying full attention. I'm ok apart from being a bit bruised and sore down my leg and elbow. Apart from that really enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you had a nasty fall. I hope you recover quickly. And thanks for sharing the information. I have added a comment (in italics) at point 2 in the walk directions for the benefit of other walkers. Thanks.
