Tewin bridleway 4 between points 17 & 18 |
This, our third walk from the village of
Bramfield, explores the countryside to the S of the village. It includes paths that feature on two of our other walks in the collection, but walked in reverse so the views are different. The route crosses arable land, cuts through one livestock field where horses were grazing when we tested the walk, then follows bridleways and footpaths through woodland.
The walk starts and finishes at
The Grandison pub/restaurant on Bury Lane, Bramfield, and has the option of a short detour to
The Rose and Crown in Tewin soon after the halfway point. The starting point for the walk is 2.7 miles NW from Hertford North Station by road.
There is a 420m section of lane between points 16 and 17 where there isn't a pavement or a verge.
Fly over the route before you set off
If you want to check what sort of landscape this walk covers before setting off you can view a short 3D video of the route below. It's created using the free version of

Our other walks from The Grandison in Bramfield are:
This is a lovely walk thank you ended with lunch in the pub. At point 16 you can avoid the road by walking a little way around the bend then enter field by gate and walk on the other side of the hedge on the left hand side of the road - it picks up the bridle way mentioned
ReplyDeleteGreat, thanks for the tip.
DeleteHi David walked this route last Friday . Laugh I totally missed gate behind hedge point 9 and finished up at bottom field gate . Lost I even think the six horses in the field were trying to tell which way to go . Mind you I did manage the tip at 16 . Thank You . IR.
ReplyDelete:-) glad you survived. Hope the detour with the horses didn't spoil your day.
DeleteCompleted the walk this morning . Really enjoyed it particularly the the latter part through the woods towards the end . Missed the diagonal from point 13 and carried on , only to turn right a few minutes later and correct myself . My mistake . Bit early for a pint at the end ..
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed it, but sorry you missed out on your pint. We keep doing that, too.
DeleteEasy to follow. Lovely walk with not many roads to cross which was great for the dog. Loved it.
ReplyDeleteGlad your dog had a nice day out. Glad you did too. Thanks for the feedback.
DeleteYet another cracking walk - so much variety of countryside, dogs off lead for most of it. Lovely stately home you wouldnt know was there. Bit muddy in places but that didn’t stop us having a pint! Will be even better in drier weather. Definitely on our top 10
ReplyDeleteWow, great review. Thanks for the feedback. So glad you enjoyed it.
