This is a pleasant walk through the parishes of Little Munden and Great Munden following wooded byways, bridleways and footpaths across farmland. It's an undulating walk with wide open views. It's mainly good under foot except for one or two short stretches across fields which, after being ploughed, can be a bit sticky and hard to navigate.

Park in Dane End. We found a car park on the edge of the village at grid reference (location - https://w3w.co/peanut.alien.sizes). It is owned by Little Munden Parish Council who were very helpful and told me that people using our walks are welcome to park there.

The car park is sometimes locked at night but I was told that they won't lock it if there is a car parked in it. But best to try to get back before dusk.

1: Head NE along Munden Road for 170m looking for a footpath on the left between the cottages and just before The Boot pub (location - https://w3w.co/weekend.perfumes.slurping).

2: Turn left on Little Munden footpath 1 then head N for 160m until you reach a footpath junction (location - https://w3w.co/swaps.could.costumed).

3: Turn left then head in a north-westerly direction on Little Munden footpath 14 for 430m until you reach another footpath junction (location - https://w3w.co/crop.clapper.remove).

4: Keep left then head NW (ignore paths to the right and left) and head uphill on Little Munden footpath 5 for 450m to a point where the path splits (location - https://w3w.co/quitter.winters.reform).

5: Continuing slightly to the right and going through woodland for another 100m to meet a lane (location - https://w3w.co/unscathed.slurred.picturing).

6: Turn right on the lane then head NNW for 40m before taking a left turn on Little Munden restricted byway 7 (location - https://w3w.co/fuzz.weekends.bounding).

Head W for 250m at which point Little Munden restricted byway 7 veers to the right (location - https://w3w.co/chat.stooping.otherwise).

7: Keep right then heads NW, Little Munden restricted byway 7, for 450m until you reach a junction just beyond a concrete bridge (location - https://w3w.co/equipping.pardon.refer).

8: Turn right then head NE on Little Munden restricted byway 16 (which later becomes Great Munden restricted byway 54) for 2km.

This is a lovely quiet stretch alongside the edge of The Old Bourne.

Continue until you reach a three-way signpost, see image below (location - https://w3w.co/endearing.spells.joystick).

9: Turn right, cross a concrete bridge, then turn left on a lane. Head NE for 280m until you reach a byway on the right (location - https://w3w.co/pothole.gateway.twitches).

10: Turn right on Great Munden BOAT 14 (byway open to all traffic) then head SSE for 900m until you reach a junction (location - https://w3w.co/hourglass.devours.erupts).

11: Turn right on Great Munden BOAT 20, which becomes Froggs Hall Lane then head SW for 250m until you reach a lane (location - https://w3w.co/unable.mavericks.bands).

12: Turn left on the lane then head SE for 250m looking out for a track on the right opposite Yew Tree House (location - https://w3w.co/belong.stay.nuzzling).

13: Turn right on Little Munden footpath 3 then head SW then SSE then SSW for 310m until you reach a junction (location - https://w3w.co/again.crib.comically).

14: Turn left on Little Munden footpath 2 then head E for 210m until you reach a footpath on your right towards the end of the field (location - https://w3w.co/servicing.richest.mixer).

15: Take this path Little Munden footpath 1 then head SSW and diagonally across a field that can be muddy if recently ploughed. Continue for 1km until you reach a lane and All Saints Church Little Munden (location - https://w3w.co/skimmers.wiring.hovered).

16: Walk through the churchyard, the official route of Little Munden footpath 1. After walking round the church go down some steps.

17: Turn right then, immediately after the school, turn right, then turn left, still on Little Munden footpath 1 (location - https://w3w.co/unhelpful.flexibly.rooks) then head downhill across a field.

Head SW for 460m until you reach the junction with Little Munden footpath 14, mentioned in point 1 above (location - https://w3w.co/olive.begins.makeup).

18: Turn left, still on Little Munden footpath 1 then head S for 160m until you reach Munden Road.

19: Turn left on Munden Road then head SW for 170m back to the starting point.

The Boot pub/restaurant is close to the start/finish point (location - https://w3w.co/bond.outgrown.bulldozer).
