Walk 47: Mimram Valley Loop

A circular walk from Tewin down to the Mimram Valley and back via Home Wood. This walk takes in part of the route for Walk 45: The Tewin West East Loop but heads down to the River Mimram instead of crossing the fields.

1: From the village green in Tewin (location - https://w3w.co/energetic.trio.tones), walk towards the Rose & Crown. Just before you reach the pub, head NW along Back Lane, Tewin BOAT 2 (byway open to all traffic). Continue for 630m.

2: After a pond on your right, turn left (location - https://w3w.co/bigger.budget.await) and head SW on Tewin BOAT 1 for 250m until you reach a footpath crossroads. Here you continue heading SW on Tewin footpath 10 for 730m until the path drops down and meets a track at a T-junction (location - https://w3w.co/shaped.rising.look).

3: Turn left here on Tewin bridleway 7 and head SE for 550m until you reach Churchfield Road (location - https://w3w.co/give.unless.models).

4: Cross the road and take the footpath, Tewin footpath 1 on the SE side of the road and continue through Westley Wood for 150m until you reach another T-junction (location - https://w3w.co/latest.wipe.rival).

5: Turn right and head S on Tewin restricted byway 5 for 290m turning left and right through Tewin Bury Farm until you reach a bridge over the River Mimram (location - https://w3w.co/beam.level.basis).

6: Just before the bridge turn left on Tewin footpath 14 for 150m where it bends to the right and becomes Tewin footpath 19 and heads SE for 470m along the north side of the river. Follow this path past the fish farm until you reach Archers Green Lane (location - https://w3w.co/market.hardly.survey).

7: Turn right along Archers Green Lane and head SE for 320m looking out for a footpath on your left (location - https://w3w.co/stir.goes.panels).

8: Turn left on this path, Tewin footpath 24, and head NNE for 360m.

9: At a footpath T-junction  (location - https://w3w.co/faster.pillow.grace) turn right and head SE for 320m until you reach a path on your left (location - https://w3w.co/stuff.luck.finely).

10: Turn left on this path, Tewin footpath 22 and head NNW for 720m across a field, through Home Wood and across another field until you reach Hertford Road (location - https://w3w.co/battle.shelf.valley).

11: Turn left on Hertford Road and walk NW back to Tewin village green.

  1. This has become one of our favourite walks. Not too strenuous for oldies like us and in the summer it is a real pleasure walking through the and wheat fields. This time of year the sunflowers are a nice addition
